Welcome to ACES WEEKLY Volume 71, Week Six!

Friends, I've just seen a new cultural history study publication being promoted on the subject of ' one panel comics ', which puzzles me, because, as far as I know, a comic always has more than one panel - otherwise it's a cartoon, a gag cartoon. Turns out the subjects included in this are Far Side, which is definitely a gag cartoon, and some others that sometimes present as one-offs but also present as multi-panel comics.  So, where does this one-panel comic description come from that lumps Far Side in with actual comic strips? Ignorance or a need to expand a short concept into a long one because the thing you've given yourself to examine - the gag cartoon - is in such short supply these days that you can't find a way of making something out of the subject without castigating publishers for removing the space for them to exist.
