This first week of our new volume I want to spotlight one of our featured Aces - David Leach, the enabler of the formidable, Psycho Gran. This is not because David deserves more attention than our other Aces for his skills, which are, of course, great, but because David was part of a similar project to ours in the heady days of the 80's, and I suggest you go looking for copies of it if you happen to search boot sales, charity shops, and comic marts for past comics gems, as I know many of you do. Oink was the name of this treasure, and it was similar to us in having the same radical and different attitude. It also had a fresh and free-thinking viewpoint on what was allowable in satire for a young reader audience, which caused it to be an uncomfortable thing for one big conventional mass-market comics seller to stock and proved its early downfall. David was part of the passionate crowd who made that radical comic, giving it exactly the kind of sharp and gritty humour he always delivers in Aces Weekly, and for which we are eternally grateful. Remember - it's called Oink. Do yourselves a favour and use your snouts to go find some... : )
